Maison & Objet design trade fair in Paris, one of the „it“ destinations for the interior design industry, has just closed its January edition doors leaving us 'till September with a huge amount of inspiration to work with.

Whatever tastes and interests one may have - be it eclectic, cozy, elegant or the latest innovations in design - they’re all represented and no one gets empty handed from Maison et Objet.

All the 2016 trendy materials – copper, brass, marble, concrete – and colors – rose quartz, serenity blue and generally the pastel versions of every color - have been beautifully integrated by both new and established brands into their new collections. Nevertheless, this was not necessarily the rule. Those who fancy more bold colors and drama have not been neglected.

Scandinavians, very prolific and visible, are often setting the tone for new design and they seem to have contaminated the whole wide world with their clean but cosy design philosphy.

MUUTO, the danish brand that gives voice to some of the best scandinavian designers, is one of the leading name in modern scandinavian design.

MUUTO/AMBIT by TAF ARCHITECTS. AMBIT Lamp is the result of a meticulous endevour to balance shape and proportions.

MUUTO/VISU, VISU chair, Mika Tolvanen‘s personal interpretation of the plywood chair. A more homey and comfortable looking version, we might add.

GUBI, another danish brand, has this beautiful cause of discovering overlooked design icons from the past and bringing them back to life, giving them a second chance to shine.

GUBI/RANDACCI MIRROR, inspired by Gio Ponti’s Randaccio Mirror, designed for his own home in 1925, bears the crown-like details on top, a detail Ponti used in several works of design and art he created.

TOM DIXON/STONE CANDLE HOLDER, a beautiful marriage between brass and marble, is perfectly illustrating the 2016 trends, nevertheless I could not imagine it going ever out of fashion.

Outside the Pavillion 7, NOW! DESIGN A VIVRE, some traders caught also my eye and my attention, especially those that encompassed under their brand, products of craftmanship all around the world.

POLLS Potten is a dutch brand, comissioning its small series products with decorative artists and craftsman all around the world, ending with a collection of whimsical, conversation-starting home decor object.

Danish again, Bloomingville, is also one of my favoured destination for inspiration and for my projects. With their wide range of interior style categories, there’s always a chance to find that one special chair, or lamp or basket or accesoire that fits perfectly into a specific decor.

BLOOMINGVILLE

Both brands are availabe in Romania thrugh The Home.

And last but not least, as there are so many more that I would have loved to cover, i loved the German brand, Papertrophy, who took the paper silhouettes one step further, creating not only walltrophies but also pretty scarry standing paper animals. The wall shapes are a really nice alternative to taxidermy and they’re not only suitable in childrens room but, with the right context, also in more exquisite decors.
